U15’s National League South II - Saturday 17th October 2009
Bucks Hornets 56 Reading Rockets 27
First game for the U15 Rockets squad in the South II National League against last years champion Bucks Hornets. Rockets never gave up but succumb to a 34 point defeat. Luca is Captain.
Opening minute Durell sinks a 3 pointer. Started off with good defence but missing out on the opportunity for rebounds. Bucks Hornets finished the 1st quarter 18 points up, taking a good few points on fastbreaks. 2nd quarter Andy got a steel, was fouled and then 2 penalty shots. George got one of those missed shots on the rebound for 2 points. Hornets defence was to place 5 men around the key stifling Rockets offensive moves. Most notable for the amount of fouls given to Rockets and Hornets finishing off the first half with a slam dunk from their England player. Rockets 17 – Hornets 36.
Rockets still finding it hard to get through Bucks defence but start passing more around the basket and getting some great hustle. George and Nathan increase our tally to 21 – Hornets 54. Final quarter Rockets moving, passing great effort in defence getting 6 point and stopping Hornets getting anymore than 7 points. Lucas drove through 4 players to assist in our final points. Lack of calling between the players as a few passes were missed by our team.
