A brilliant performance from the Rockets U13 II team in both games on Saturday 21st.
V Newham Allstars
The first game against Newham All stars saw the U13 II team out classed but the game was played in a friendly spirit with major credit to the Newham team and coaching staff on their approach to the game. We saw a star in the makng, Calvin Kintu, playing No 6 for the All Stars, so much confidence and awareness from someone so young.
Scorers were:
- John and Aiden both scored 4
- James 1
The All Stars then scored 88 points again in their next game, against Rockets U13 I, who replied with 14 points. Newham All Stars deservedly sit at the top of the table, and are credit to their coach and the spirit of the EBL at this age group.
V Rockets U13 I
The final game of the day saw Rockets II facing Rockets I team. The U13 II team had a fast scoring run in the first 3 minutes going on a 7 point run. This run raised their spritis and confidence and they kept the first team to just 4 points in the first quarter whilst scoring an impressive 11 points themselves. This was the best quarter of the season for them, and coach JP was delighted, shame coach Josh couldn't be there to see his boys step up their game.
The second quarter was closer with both teams scoring in double figures. The half time score 23 - 18 to the U13 II
The Rockets I team found focus in the 3rd quarter out scoring the U13 II by 18 to 10, as Rob Harman lead the first team's comeback, but all the guys on both teams gave their all.
A brilliant team performance from Rockets II but sadly not rewarded by as many baskets as they deserved, the first team finally winning the game 48 - 41, a much closer result than the first meeting of the season which resulted in a 90-51 defeat. Clearly the coaches have been working on defence!
The scorers for the second team were:
- Aron and Aiden both scored 10
- John 9
- Tom and Prash both scored 4
- James and Callum both scored 2
