At Easter Reading Rockets have been working in Wokingham primary schools including Keep Hatch, Hatch Ride, and All Saints, running after school basketball sessions for years 4 and 5. These have been a great success with some of the clubs seeing over 19 children playing each week. Rockets would like to thank the schools for their support in getting so many children involved in the programme.
To reward the children for their hard work the Rockets coaches put on a tournament at Keep Hatch school for all the schools involved in the programme to play against each other. This was a great afternoon and the children created a really good atmosphere cheering on their schools.
After a tiring afternoon of basketball ,Keep Hatch school were crowned the champions after a great final against Hatch Ride School.
Steph Johnson the organiser of the Awards for All basketball programme was extremely pleased with how the afternoon went. “It was so good to see the children not only working so hard on the court but also cheering on their team mates form the sideline. They really got into the spirit of the tournament which is a credit to those schools involved”.
