Rockets U18s just miss out in the Final 4's

Rockets U18s have just missed out in the playoff final at Sheffield, losing a high scoring game, 103 - 91 to Westminstor Warriors. Rockets trailed 52-30 at half time and pulled out a magnificent effort in the 2nd half  but could not quite pull the deficit back. Photos and writeup from this will be in the Reading Evening Post on Friday

Adam Thoseby was top scorer for Rockets and the @Hoopsfix commentary via twitter was impressed:

"no-one can stop Reading's Thoseby","Adam Thoseby has 31 after 3 quarters (!)"

Despite a spirited come back in the second half which Rockets took 61- 51, Rockets ended up as runners up in the National Junior Men's Final Fours at EIS Sheffield.

A cut which required stitches to shooting guard Louis Sayers did not help Rockets in the first half as they went from just 5 down to 22 down at the interval.  Excellent team work, sheer guts and commitment saw Rockets get within 6 points with 4 minutes to go and the huge number of travelling Rockets supporters gave the team a well deserved ovation as the final buzzer went and Rockets took compensation from the knowledge that they are the second best Under 18 team in the land.  Top scorers for Rockets:  Adam Thoseby 33, Kofi Josephs who hit 19 of his 21 points in the final quarter and Louis Sayers 14 points, in spite of missing a huge portion of the game.

Reading Rockets had earlier in the day beat Manchester Magic 78-65 to advance to the final at the Final4s in Sheffield . Westminster beat Sheffield Sharks 75-70 in the other semi-final.
