Earley Schools Enjoy Rockets Tournament

Earley Schools TournamentReading Rockets Awards For All basketball programme came to an end on Tuesday when local schools including Radstock, Loddon and Whiteknights came together for a showcase tournament at Radstock School. Each of the schools receiving  the programme had received 5 weeks of basketball coaching from the Rockets where they have learnt ball skills, passing, shooting and finally had a chance to bring all those skills together for the tournament.

Harrison and Louis named in the Under 18 England men's squad

Reading Rockets Under 18 stars Harrison Gamble and Louis Sayers have been selected in the final twelve to represent their country in this year's European Championships which will be held in Israel in just over a week's time. Both players have been playing with the squad in the build up to the tournament and have travelled to Cherbourg, Bristol, Belgium, and most recently Kingston where both featured in the well known Future Stars tournament. Both received the news whilst away in Belgium and it is the first time in the Club's history that two Rockets players have featured in the same International team.

Rockets Back British Basketball

bbb_banner_125x125 Rockets are getting behind a new campaign to "Back British Basketball" and get Britain supporting Team GB as they try to qualify for the 2012 Olympics on our own turf.

The British basketball team are the only Brits not to qualify automatically for London 2012 Olympics. To even get a spot the "host" team have to play four crucial games in August. Outrage!

So if they have to play to get in we're gonna make sure they play with the biggest crowds and create an atmosphere never before seen. C'mon Britain, Back British Basketball and let's cheer our team to a gold.

Rockets Satellite Tournament Takes Off

DSC01588May Half Term saw one of the first Rockets Satellite Tournaments held at JMA in South Reading. The day allowed all children who are currently part of the Rockets Satellite programme to come together and compete in their satellite teams.

After some skills and drills with the Rockets coaches the players got into an afternoon of games allowing them to try out some of the skills they have learnt in their sessions whilst also being able to get some guidance from the Coaches.

Wokingham Receive Awards For All Basketball Programme From Rockets

Wokingham

At Easter Reading Rockets have been working in Wokingham primary schools including Keep Hatch, Hatch Ride, and All Saints, running after school basketball sessions for years 4 and 5. These have been a great success with some of the clubs seeing  over 19 children playing each week. Rockets would like to thank the schools for their support in getting so many children involved in the programme.
