Reading Rockets have completed their third signing for the 2010/2011 season in the form of 19 year old forward William Hall. The 6'7 Great Britain Under 20 originates from Sheffield where he played the whole of his junior career representing the Sharks at junior and senior level as well as EBL Division 3 team, the Sheffield Sabres. Hall, who spent last year in the United States at Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts joins the Rockets after a successful summer with the Great Britain Under 20's team who finished a respectable 6th at this year's European Championships.
Rockets Director of Coaching Matt Johnson, who worked with Hall at England Under 18 level, is delighted to have the 6'7 forward join the Rockets ranks to further his career. He said, "We are absolutely thrilled that Will is going to join us to further his development. He comes from an excellent background in the form of Sheffield and has just spent a year in the United States as well as representing Great Britain at Under 20 level this summer. He is a great addition to our team and someone who I think will be very effective in his position and gives us some much needed height. I truly believe this could be a great move for him and am very excited to watch him perform at this level."
The Rockets have also been boosted by the news that 'crowd favourite' Ryan Lohfink has finally obtained his visa for the coming season and will be flying back to the UK on Tuesday next week. Understandably, Rockets Chairman Gary Johnson was a relieved man after he heard the news earlier this week. He said, "We are thrilled Ryan is returning for a third season and I am relieved all his paperwork has now been completed so he can now join up with the squad before our first home game against PAWS London Capital on Saturday 25th September. Ryan is a fantastic guy and has been an integral part of our development over the last few years and everyone at the club is eagerly awaiting his return".
Three weeks into the job, Rockets new Head Coach Samit Nuruzade has been pleased with the start his team has made to the new season. Commenting after last weekend's friendly defeat against BBL Championship side, Guildford Heat, in which the Rockets put in a brave performance, Coach Nuruzade said, "I have been absolutely delighted with the commitment our guys have put in so far. We are continuing to work on being excellent in practice and in our recent games I have been very proud of the players we have put out on the floor as we have a very young team this year. I am really looking forward to this season and developing the young English talent that we have."
