Rockets Charman Gary Johnson was quick to point out that Rockets are already in discussions with the BBL in order to secure a franchise for 2013 / 14 together with discussing a long term investment and commitment from their venue. "We are re-structuring the back office, establishing a new charitable foundation and looking to further develop the Rockets brand whilst capitalising on our most successful community health and sports development programmes. We have said all along that the timing has to be right. We now have 15 months to perfect our professional basketball product. The next year of transition to franchise is going to be very exciting for anyone involved with the Rockets."
Nonetheless Rockets are already recruiting fresh faces to complement the returning players who will be the backbone for the BBL squad. Director of Coaching Matt Johnson is keeping names close to his chest right now but fans should expect some exciting announcements in the next 4-6 weeks.
Elite Spanish Shooting CampRockets are very proud to recommend the following elite level shooting camp with one of the finest teachers of the game and its skills in Europe. Coach Margall and the Rockets are working together with a number of projects and this shooting camp is just the beginning. There are only 15 spaces per camp so look and book!

Rockets lose out in quarter final battle - Bristol 71 Rockets 52In a low scoring game with both defences prominent and finishing being made difficult by the intensity and importance of the knock out phase of the Championship, it was the final quarter that saw Rockets stumble and League runners up Bristol Academy Flyers, go through to the Final Fours in 2 weeks time. The final score didn't reflect the game which was nip and tuck for three quarters with the first period tied on 16 as Flyers hit a buzzer beating three pointer to draw level before they did likewise at the end of the second quarter to edge ahead by 7 points. Rockets fought back in the third to just 3 points adrift before Flyers again struck the last shot to maintain an advantage, though just 5 as the final period began.
Rockets head to Bristol this Saturday evening (tip 7 pm) to take on Bristol Academy Flyers in the quarter final of the Play off Championship. Come and support your team. Rockets prepare for the quarter finalsReading Rockets will make the journey down the M4 this Saturday when they take on EBL Division One runners-up, Bristol Academy Flyers, in the play-off quarter finals at Filton College (7pm tip-off). The Rockets, who finished their season with 14 wins and 10 losses, finished in 7th place in the league and therefore secured a tie with the 2nd placed team who finished with a record of 18 wins and 6 losses as they parted with their Division One trophy to newly-crowned champions the BA London Leopards. Saturday's meeting will be the third time the two team's have met this term, with the Bristol outfit winning the first game comfortably by 68 points to 54, although the Berkshire club will be buoyed by the most recent game in which they won by three points as they ran out winners by 66 points to 63. Saturday's victors will go on to face the winner of the Derby v Bradford clash in the semi-finals at the Amaechi Basketball Centre where the end of season final fours will take place for the fourth year running.
Rockets win through in final league game of the season - Leeds 58 Rockets 59In a real end of season game, Head Coach Samit Nuruzade rested Harrison Gamble and gave much court time to Sam Simon, Michael Matzeder and Sam Oughton in preparation for next Saturday's play off quarter final against Bristol Academy Flyers (at Bristol - tip off 7 pm). Lewis Champion finished the league season in outstanding style with 32 points and scoring the winning points with a magnificent drive with 0.3 seconds left on the clock.
Rockets lose out at BradfordIn a game where Rockets came back from being 12 down in the first two minutes, without Luke Nelson away on England Junior men duty and having Lewis Champion injured in the second quarter, Rockets were narrowly defeated by 77 to 73 in the last 15 seconds as Bradford hit a crucial three pointer to take a four point win. Ryan Lohfink was outstanding for Rockets with 33 points and 8 rebounds, with Parker on 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists whilst Lukas Aleksandravicius had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
Double header in the North to finish league seasonReading Rockets (13-9) will make the long journey north this weekend as they take on Bradford Dragons (14-9) on Saturday (6.15pm tip off) before visiting Leeds Carnegie (10-12) the following day (2pm tip-off) in their final two league games of the season. The Berkshire outfits four game winning streak came to an end last Saturday as the Reading team were defeated by newly-crowned EBL Division One champions, BA London Leopards by 80 points to 60 as the Barking Abbey side took their winning streak to 17 consecutive wins to lift the league title. Rockets have however now qualified for the post season and are likely to finish somewhere between in fifth and seventh place although a top four place is not entirely out of the question. Two victories for the Rockets coupled with an unlikely loss for Derby Trailblazers at home to relegation threatened Westminster Warriors would see the Reading team finish in fourth position and secure a home play-off quarter final-game. If however the Trailblazers do indeed win, then the Rockets would have to settle for fifth place providing they came out of their final weekend with two wins themselves.
